10/02/10 - East Anglia Contractor Gears Up For Future Growth under Seddon Rebrand

Following the acquisition in 2007 of Cundy Anglia by Seddon Property Services, the Cambridgeshire company has now been rebranded under the national contractor’s name.

Cundy Anglia, which was based in Burwell has recently relocated to larger premises in Isleham, North East of Cambridge.

Since the purchase, the company has also benefitted from investment in training, as well as the introduction of environmental initiatives and quality standards associated with being part of Seddon Property Services.

Neil Hand, joint Managing Director of Seddon Property Services, said: “This change in name is to better reflect the services offered by the company and to enable the business to grow and undertake larger scale maintenance type works while continuing to service our core painting clients.

“It means we are able to offer our national clients a single, unified approach to their painting, maintenance and refurbishment needs.

 “We will remain at Isleham, but it has always been our aim since purchasing Cundy Anglia to bring it under the Seddon Property Services name in the future.

“The office in Isleham is an important location for us, offering a platform to reach into areas including Norfolk, Suffolk, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.”

One of the UK’s most successful companies in the painting and maintenance sector, Seddon Property Services recently announced it had bucked the current economic trend with figures revealing growth of 100 per cent over the last five years. 

 

Since 2004, Seddon Property Services’ turnover has shot up from £25 million in 2004 to £53 million for 2009– and the number of employees grown from 600 to 1000.

 

In line with the strategy for the sustained, secure and successful growth of the business, the management team at Seddon Property Services has invested heavily in staff development – to ensure consistent delivery of quality work and customer satisfaction.

 

An industry-leading £1.5 million investment is made annually to deliver a fully qualified workforce for the future.

 

NVQ training has also been expanded to cover not only painting and decorating, but customer care and maintenance operations.

 

Neil Hand added: “All workers from apprentices to painters with 20 to 30 years in the trade are encouraged to continually improve their performance – and our purpose-built training centre is recognised as one of the best in the industry.

 

“Considerable focus has also been placed on Information Technology – with the aim of delivering outstanding customer service levels, through a tailored, real time service that works to meet the exact needs of clients.”

 

In October 2009, the development of innovative project management and strategies - coupled with support to the communities in which Seddon Property Services operates - saw the company among the first in its field to be awarded the prestigious Investors in Excellence standard.

 

Investors in Excellence is the UK’s recognised standard for organisations who are able to demonstrate high standards across areas such as leadership, policy and strategy, customer and staff relations, and training.
