16/02/10 - Seddon Renews £19.5 million Places For People Contract

National contractor Seddon Property Services has renewed its painting and maintenance contract, valued at £19.5 million, with Places For People.

 

The four year partnering agreement involves cyclical maintenance carried out under a Major Works Programme to thousands of social housing properties managed by the organisation.

 

Since 2004, Seddon Property Services has held a partnering maintenance contract with Places for People - one of the largest social housing, development and regeneration companies in the UK.

 

Neil Hand, joint Managing Director of Seddon Property Services, said: “We are delighted to renew the contract.

 

“Throughout our time working with Places for People, we have delivered a quality programme of works, with a strong focus on customer service.

 

“We have also played an integral role in their community activity programme – centred on the delivery of good quality homes, facilities and the provision of the opportunities that people need to prosper.

 

“This has included the development of an apprenticeship training scheme for Places for People tenants, who undergo our extensive three-year training programme.

 

“We have also provided the resources and manpower to support Places for People’s initiatives including Community Involvement Week and the pioneering multi-agency Community Champion’s programme, which works with young people.”

 

Seddon Property Services has 27 offices across England, Scotland and Wales - all supported by the company’s head office in Stoke-on-Trent. Further expansion is planned this year with the opening of offices in Scotland, Manchester, Dorset and the South West.

 

Mr Hand added: “The contract is being delivered locally from Seddon’s offices across the UK.

 

“This partnering agreement will provide sustainability to the local communities by providing job security for existing staff and further employment opportunities for local people.

 

 “Many of our staff live in the areas in which they will be working and this is something we regard as important when engaging the local community.”
